Many of our villages include memory care centres designed to provide a welcoming and comfortable living experience in a safe and secure environment. With innovative design in mind, our centres aim to create a world-class setting for those living with dementia, helping them feel at home.

Guided by our resident-centric philosophy, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with dementia. We also strive to encourage a better understanding of dementia and work to reduce the stigma associated with it. Through our ongoing partnership with Dementia New Zealand and our Dementia Friendly accreditation, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our residents and the wider community.

  • We’ve found a place we can give mum the dignity she deserves, but that gives us the rest we desperately need. With the knowledge that mum is taken care of and dad can go back to being the husband and not the caregiver.

Award-winning memory care

Summerset by the Ranges in Levin is home to our first-generation memory care centre. The Levin memory care centre’s design and approach was awarded the Aged Care Association’s Built and Grown Environment Award for exceptional design in 2017. We have further developed this for our second-generation memory care offering.

Dementia Friendly accreditation

Summerset was one of the first retirement village operators in New Zealand to be officially recognised by Alzheimers New Zealand as a Dementia-friendly organisation. The accreditation means our villages and organisation have met key standards focused on what people with dementia need now and in the future. Dementia friendly training is completed by all staff and we are really proud to help those with dementia get the best out of life.

Dementia New Zealand partnership

We’re partnering with Dementia New Zealand to provide greater education about dementia, and remove some of its stigma, to both our residents, our staff and the wider community.

Accommodation costs

Our memory care homes are available to occupy under an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA). There are various costs to pay upon moving in, while living there and when leaving. Please speak to the Sales Manager for information on costs and subsidies available.
