How our VIP Waitlist helped Arthur & Shirley find their perfect home

Joining the Friends of Summerset database gives you access to updates on your village of interest, but being on the VIP Waitlist gets you invited to exclusive events and gives you early access to newly available homes that best match your preferences before they’re released to the public.

Arthur and Shirley joined the VIP Waitlist almost five years’ before they chose their perfect home at Summerset Mountain View. During their time on the VIP Waitlist, the couple attended a number of VIP events and turned down two other homes that just weren’t quite right.

“Being on the VIP Waitlist is essential. You can't expect to be offered a home in the village if you aren't on the list.”

“While on the VIP Waitlist, we were offered two villas, but they weren't quite what we were looking for. Considering that when you come into retirement village this is going to be where you spend the rest of your life, you want something that you're happy with. The benefit of being on the Summerset VIP Waitlist is if you say, ‘look, that home is not really what we want’, you still stay at the same priority level on the waiting list.

I think that's very important and when we put our name on the list, we knew that if we did refuse a home, we weren't disadvantaged in the long term. We had a nice home, so you're always looking at measuring up your new home against what you’re leaving. We have a lovely view of trees from our two-bedroom villa, and we just loved that because that’s what we were leaving.” said Arthur

“While on the VIP Waitlist we attended a variety of events including a downsizing seminar, a Christmas event, concerts and lunches. We also received a number of café vouchers to use at the village café,” shared Shirley

“We've even invited friends to get their name on the VIP Waitlist. We say, ‘you don't lose anything by putting your name on the VIP Waitlist. If your circumstances change, you can remove your name and your deposit is refunded’. There’s no disadvantage, only benefits. That's what sold us.”
