8 November 2018

The first dementia friendly accredited retirement village in Horowhenua and Manawatu was awarded at a ceremony in Levin. Summerset by the Ranges was officially given the distinction by Alzheimers NZ chief executive, Catherine Hall, on 7 November 2018 at the village.

“Our goal is to create a more dementia friendly New Zealand in which people with dementia feel valued and respected for who they are, where they are able to live independently, and where they get the help and support they need,” Ms Hall said.

The whole of Summerset is aiming to become a dementia-friendly organisation by 2020,” Eleanor says.
